The Full Story
Originally known as the Helena Women’s Association in 1891 later becomes the Phillips County Library and placed on the National Register of Historic Places by then Governor Bill Clinton in 1975. The Phillips County Library is known to be the longest continues running library west of the Mississippi. Starting out with a book collection of 533 books to what is now 48,035 located in 3 different locations. Our stats can be found in Marvell, Elaine, and Helena. We also house Phillips Lee Monroe Regional Library funded through Arkansas State Library. Our location includes public computers, Genealogy department, as well as a community room. You can find in the month of June exciting children programs including live animals, theater, and magicians. We also welcome local partnerships with other community agencies.

Phillips County will be celebrating 200 years this May. The library, along with other organizations in the community are working together to have a great Bicentennial celebration. There will be a free community birthday party on May 1, 2020, along with other events around the county.
The celebration will kick off Friday, April 24, 2020, in Marvell with a tribute to Levon Helm.
Saturday, April 25, 2020, will start off with Delta Roots at 11:00 a.m.
Thursday, April 30, 2020, the Delta Cultural Center will have a round table program at 6:00 p.m.
Friday, May 1, 2020, Free Phillips County Birthday Celebration at 6:00 p.m. ending with fireworks.
Saturday, May 2, 2020, Walk tour presented by Main Street Helena at 10:00 a.m.
Saturday, May 2, 2020, Tour the Delta Bike Give away from 9:00-2:00
Saturday, May 2, 2020, Welcome Center will have its open house from 12:00-2:00.
Sunday, May 3, 2020, Warfield Outdoor Concert at 6:00 p.m. Legendary Pacers will perform on the lawn in front of Lily Peter Auditorium.
Tuesday, May 5, 2020, Mark Twain from 7:00-7:45 p.m. at Beth El Heritage Hall.
Friday, May 8, 2020, Helena Museum will have their 90th anniversary. Time to be announced later.
